2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan

The SMTC is currently in the process of creating a new 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)! This plan (also referred to as a “long range transportation plan” or LRTP) describes the current state of our surface transportation system, examines anticipated trends, and lays out a vision for the future of our region’s transportation system. The SMTC is required to update this plan every 5 years, with our next MTP due in September 2025.

THE DRAFT 2050 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT. This incorporates the public feedback we received through our survey and community outreach events in 2024. Click on the links below to view each chapter of the draft MTP or the full document. SMTC will also host three public meetings to discuss the draft plan.

Comments on the draft 2050 MTP must be submitted in writing via the form below, email to contactus@smtcmpo.org, or postal mail to: SMTC, Attn: Meghan Vitale, 126 N. Salina Street, Suite 100, Syracuse, NY 13202. Comments will be accepted through August 29, 2025.
