Village of Skaneateles Pedestrian Safety and Access Study

The SMTC initiated this study in 2020 at the request of the Village of Skaneateles.  The study’s primary focus is on US Route 20 in the Village of Skaneateles and, specifically, reducing conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles on this busy section of roadway. The New York State Department of Transportation is planning a paving project for this section of roadway in the next five years, which will create an opportunity to alter pavement markings and other key roadway features. The presentation provides a brief review of the existing conditions along this corridor, and then presents some possible future design concepts for key locations. We are interested in your feedback on these concepts! SMTC is aiming to complete this study and publish a report in summer 2022. Community feedback will be used to help identify preferred concepts, and will be documented in the final report.
