Village of Skaneateles Pedestrian Safety and Access Study

The SMTC initiated this study in 2020 at the request of the Village of Skaneateles.  The study’s primary focus is on US Route 20 in the Village of Skaneateles and, specifically, reducing conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles on this busy section of roadway. The New York State Department of Transportation is planning a paving project for this section of roadway in the next five years, which will create an opportunity to alter pavement markings and other key roadway features. A draft report is now available for public review and comment. Click the links below to download:

Comments on the draft report should be submitted to by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022.

All public comments will be documented in an appendix to the Final Report. SMTC anticipates that the Final Report will be published on our website in August 2022.

The video below provides an overview of the study and the initial draft concepts from January 2022. A Question & Answer session was held with SMTC staff on January 18, 2022, via Zoom to discuss the concepts presented in the video. Feedback from that meeting is included in the draft report appendix.
